ELO Backup

ELO Backup backs up your data in ELO and ensures high performance for the whole system.

ELO Backup regularly checks the stock of documents and makes back-ups. Document keywording is also maintained during this. The data back-up process runs in the background as a stand-alone server service.

Depending on what the customer wants, up to four back-ups of a document can be created. In other words, each document and each older version of a document can be backed-up in ELO up to four times. Besides the regular archiving in the file system, back-ups can also be stored on external devices. ELO supports the common storage devices of our strategic partners (EMC Centera, Network Appliance and IBM DR550).

Another advantage of using ELO Backup is the function to remove old documents from the storage path. As a result of this, older documents and document versions that are required less often can be deleted in ELO from the storage path following a back-up. The local hard drive is left with more space and higher performance. When a user accesses the document which has been removed, this is automatically restored to the storage path. The removal of old documents can either take place via a menu item in ELO Client or regularly through ELO Backup. This function is optional and can also be turned off if so desired by the user.
